RESULTS
AND TABLES
When subscribers to the email
service receive the weekly compressed Results and Tables files a
number of formats can be extracted. These include
Comma Separated (CSV) for spreadsheets, MS Works, MS Excel,
dBASE, MS Access and Text.
All of the files below are sent as a single, compressed
file..... Mddmm.zip
(where ddmm=day of month).
The following are brief descriptions preceded by links to
extracts from the different file types.
LRDyyyy.TXT
In this file name 'L' indicates the league, where
E=England,
S=Scotland, C=Conference, M=Dr.Marten, U=Unibond and I=ICIS.
'R' shows these are results and 'D' indicates the league division, where 0=Premier,
1=Div.1, 2=Div.2, etc. Remember these are league results only. All results for the season to
date are sent out once a week in text format. The files show
teams, scores and dates, with matches sorted in order of date
played. A total of 12 text files.
UKTAB.TXT
A single text file providing full, current league tables for the
four English and four Scottish league divisions plus the
Conference league and the premier divisions of the Unibond,
Dr.Marten and ICIS leagues. Complements the results files in
text format.
LGE-RES.ext
These league results files provide team names, match scores and date of play. This data can be manipulated and
analysed in spreadsheet and database applications. In this file name,
'LGE' is
represented as follows..... ENG=England, SCO=Scotland and
MIN=Minor English Leagues. So these are results for the major and minor UK leagues for
the complete season.
'RES' simply indicates these are results files.
The file suffix or 'extension' shows the file
format.....
CSV = Comma Delimited File and so extracted files have the
extension '.csv'.
WDB = MS Works Database. WKS = MS Works Spreadsheet.
XLS = MS Excel. DBF = dBASE III. MDB = MS Access.
So the three CSV format results files are named....
eng_res.csv, sco_res.csv, min_res.csv
Within the files themselves leagues are shown
as e=England, s=Scotland, c=Conference, m=Dr.Marten, u=Unibond and
i=ICIS(Ryman), while league divisions are shown as 0=Premier,
1=Div.1, 2=Div.2, 3=Div.3. Please note that only the
'premier' divisions of the minor leagues (Dr.Marten, Unibond
& Ryman) are provided.
LGE-TAB.ext
These files provide complete up-to-date league tables. This data can be manipulated and
analysed in spreadsheet and database applications. In this file name 'LGE'
is
represented as follows..... ENG=England, SCO=Scotland and
MIN=Minor Leagues. 'TAB' indicates these are
tables.
The file name 'extension' shows the file format.....
CSV = Comma Delimited File and the extension '.csv'.
WDB = MS Works Database. WKS = MS Works Spreadsheet.
XLS = MS Excel. DBF = dBASE III. MDB = MS Access.
So the three Excel files are named.... eng_tab.xls,
sco_tab.xls, min_tab.xls
Within the files themselves abbreviations for leagues and
divisions are as described for the 'Results Files' above.
FORM,
RATINGS AND PREDICTION
These are files relating to forthcoming midweek or weekend soccer matches. There are text files, comma-separated files for
import into spreadsheet applications and web files, which are
intended for viewing offline on a web browser such as
Microsoft™ Internet Explorer.
Files are sent as a compressed e-mail attachments..... Mmwddmm
and Mweddmm.zip
Where ddmm=day of month for the
Wednesday or Saturday of the coming midweek (mw) or weekend (we)
matches.
The following are brief descriptions preceded by links to
examples of the different file types.
MMSITE.HTM
Check the link above for an extract from the Form Guide.
For each match on UK bookmaker's weekend football coupons, which involves at least one
league team, there are details of previous league encounters (if
both are league teams), recent form, league position, 'rateform' points and
the best bookmaker's odds available for home win, draw and away
win. Only the file MMSITE.HTM need be loaded into browser
software. This file provides an index and link to all other web
files. There can be up to 70 web frame pages, each analysing
individual matches.
So you are sent the data which appears at this site by
email in a format suitable
for browsing offline at leisure.....
Mabel's Weekly Form Guide
However, due to the large size of files involved,
the various
graphics files provided online as Mabel's Form Guide are not included in the compressed
files
forwarded to e-mail subscribers.
This keeps down the size of files sent as
email attachments.
In addition, the online pages may show match odds from
one specific bookmaker while the weekly email files sent to
subscribers provide the best of the odds available from five 'High Street'
bookies.... William Hill, Coral, SuperSoccer, Stanley and
Ladbrokes.
BKWWddmm.HTM
There are five additional web files which provide bookmakers
betting odds for five major 'High Street' bookies.
In the file name BK=bookmaker. So, LA=Ladbrokes,
HI=William Hill, CO=Coral, SU=SuperSoccer
and ST=Stanley.
Files show, for every match on a bookie's football coupon, the coupon
line number and home and away teams. Also home win, draw and away
win long-list odds in both traditional and decimal formats. These
are both weekend and mid-week files.
MMyymmdd.TXT
This is a text file prepared from the 'form guide' web file, described above. It provides odds,
statistics and
match prediction for UK league teams which appear on bookie's weekend
football coupons.
The match
number is shown as it appears on bookmakers' football coupons.
The home and away teams follow, unless they are not English or
Scottish league teams (eg perhaps
'internationals') in which
case the message 'no record' appears.
Each match is listed as a
league or cup game and the date of the Saturday included in the
weekend coupon is shown.... not necessarily the precise match
date (some matches may be played on Sunday for example). The file then provides information relating to previous UK league encounters,
recent form, league position, 'rateform' prediction points and
bookie's odds.
MEETddmm.CSV
A comma separated file for use in spreadsheets which provides details of past
league meetings between the clubs for the exact same fixture,
ie.the same home and away teams in past league matches.
Includes football coupon line number, coupon date, and the numbers and percentages of previous home wins, draws and away wins
from this fixture in the past. The search for scores and dates for previous
meetings may go back to season 1990-91, but only the last 10
meetings are analysed and displayed.
RFyymmdd.TXT
This RATEFORM file format is TEXT ( TXT ) which is suitable for
applications such as Notepad, WordPad, WORD, etc. For matches on
bookie's coupons involving league teams the
file gives current RATEFORM values.
The RATEFORM PREDICTION METHOD is described here.....
Mabel's Form Guide
For all matches on bookmaker's coupons, this file also provides the best
decimal odds for home wins, draws and away wins when five
bookies are compared.
RFyymmdd.CSV
This provides the information described above (.text
file RFyymmdd.TXT.) in
CSV format for import and analysis in spreadsheet applications.
That is 'Rateform Values' and 'Best Decimal Odds' for homes, draws
and aways.
GLSyyyy.TXT
A text file which shows the numbers and percentages of Goals
Scored over the season to date for different match scores. Home
team goals scored down the left column and away team goals
scored across the top row. Includes both major and minor English and
Scottish leagues.
GLSyyyy.CSV
This is an extract from a Comma-Separated ( CSV ) file which
again shows the total numbers and
percentages of goals scored over the season to date for
different match scores. See the 'key to file headings' on
the 'extract' page. This file provides the goals data described
above (GLSyyyy.TXT) but in a format suitable for analyses in spreadsheet applications.
